The first way to make money is to sell items. eBay has built a multi-million dollar business by connecting buyers and sellers. You can get started for free just by digging up all the stuff in the back of cupboards which you never use anymore and selling it. You make some cash and have a clutter free house - what’s not to like? You can move on from this level of selling by buying items which the main aim to resell. Now you need to have some idea what your market wants to buy and know how to price it correctly. Places to look for stock includes local yard sales and school fund raisers. Taking selling online to another level involves using drop shippers overseas who will directly ship items to your customers. But dealing with overseas suppliers or physical stock is not for everyone - particularly if you don’t have much storage space in your apartment.

Option two to make money online is to sell yourself, or rather your skills. Many people make a good living by selling their ability to write articles, design logos, develop websites or even understand the social media industry. Photographers sell their images and writers sell their services to write anything from articles to sales letters to e-books. Either way you can make money months or even years after you initially set up and promoted your website - so yes I do make money online while I sleep - but if you want fast money look to sell either your skills or a something you own!

So yes there are legit ways to make money online, and yes it costs less to get started than in most real world businesses. But in general being in business online is all about your ability to put in a whole lot of hard work and you probably won’t get rich overnight - well not at first anyway.

You need to know that now YOU are at the steering wheel of your life. You create every moment in your life, especially your financial life. If you don’t believe this, then you may believe that you have little or no control over your life and that financial success has nothing to do with you. This is very negative; instead of taking responsibility for what’s going on in your life, you are choosing to play the role of the victim. Of course, any victim’s thought process includes thinking “poor me”. The problem is, thinking like that gets you nowhere, and before you know it that’s exactly what you’ll be – a poor you!

3. Stop the Blame

You can blame the economy, the type of business, the government etc. You can use excuses and justify yourself for not doing well financially, for example, “I don’t have the right education” or “I don’t live in the right part of the country”, “I am not smart enough” or “I don’t know the right people” and so on. However, these things aren’t true. You can succeed anywhere, and the first step in that success is getting a better outlook on your situation and environment.

4. Banish Pessimism

Complaining a lot doesn’t help your finances either. While you complain you are focusing on the negative parts of yourself that you may not like. This reinforces bad thoughts you may be having about yourself, and it actually causes you to attract more negativity. So do yourself a huge favor and stop complaining or blaming or justifying. You are only putting yourself in the role of a victim and there is no such thing as a rich victim!

5. Count your Blessings

It’s also important for you to see the blessings around you right now, however small they may seem. Each of us living in North America is actually rich already compared to other parts of the world. We have so much available to us, like roads, towns/cities and stores, public places like libraries, swimming pools, parks, arenas etc.

See yourself having abundance right now and it’s from that standpoint that you can go towards receiving an abundance of money as well.

If only I had changed my “money settings” as a teenager! I would have been financially free a lot sooner. I used to think that becoming wealthy was only for other people. The truth is that you can become rich and you deserve to!

I didn’t understand why I hadn’t made my millions when I followed every step in the book, and I did so much research on the subject. So I moved on to starting my own blog.

I again spent countless hours staying up and posting my little fingers off to a blog that I thought would finally be my “making it” point. After a month of posting, my site still had not been indexed by Google and I had no visitors. I bought countless e books that claimed they had the “secret” to making to money online and all I needed to do was implement the “code”. (Every code they claimed was not actually a code to insert into my website, like I though, it was simply a code word for code.)

I was getting frustrated, and on several occasions I remember crying to my husband about how hard I had worked for the last year, and for what? Nothing but peanuts. If you had taken all the money I spent on domain names, e-books, software, and PPC, I was seriously in the hole. The reason I wanted to make money online was to get OUT of the hole, not deeper in it.

Then one day I realized something. Everything I had ever come across on the internet, each had a piece of the puzzle. They just didn’t come together. So I became re-energized with my quest and started at the beginning again, only this time I was armed with a little bit of knowledge from the get go. I re-read most of the e-books I had purchased, and they made more sense to me.

I am not going to claim that I “tested” things and “found” what worked for me, and I’m not even going to claim that I woke up one day and all of the sudden things “worked”. This is absolutely not the case. What I did may seem to some people a little bit of a cheat, but in my opinion, what I did was save my online career. I signed up for an internet marketing training course. It was my last resort, and my final effort. I had given everything I had into internet marketing, and at this point, I was ready to give up.

The course I joined was called Google Conquest. Included in the course was a 60 day challenge, and complete training from A-Z (which is what I needed.) I needed to be taken by the hand (and throw out everything I had learned previously) and shown exactly what to do. After the 60 day challenge was over, I looked back at all the work I had done over the past few months. The success I had was amazing to me. Before, when I couldn’t even get visitors to my website, I know had 10 websites built, had a steady flow of traffic to each one, and I was actually ranking on first page of Google with my chosen keywords. (Heck, I didn’t even know what rank meant before Google Conquest!)

This does not mean I allowed myself to quit learning on my own. I now simply had another resource to fall back on when I became stuck, or when something just didn’t make sense. If you have been a struggling internet marketer, I highly recommend you (or any new internet marketer for that matter) find a training course that will enable you to learn the processes you are having an issue with. There are many training courses online, and if you are willing to take the steps needed, you too can be well on your way to making your online dreams come true.
